South Africa won Lord’s Test in just three days, beat England by an innings and 12 runs


England vs South Africa 1st Test: In the first Test played at Lord’s, visiting South Africa defeated England by an innings and 12 runs. South Africa won this test in just three days. The England team, which scored 165 runs in the first innings, was bundled out for just 149 runs in the second innings. At the same time, South Africa scored 326 runs in their first innings.

bowlers dominated

South Africa’s fast bowlers dominated in both the innings. In the first innings, Kagiso Rabada took five wickets for 52 runs. While Enrique Nortje took three and Marco Yansen took two wickets. After this, Nortje again took three wickets in the second innings. On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Marco Yansen got two successes each. While Lungi Ngidi got a wicket.

England legends flopped in both innings

The legendary England batsman was a flop in both the innings. In the first innings, opener Alex Lees 05, Jack Crawley 09, Joe Root 08, Jonny Bairstow 00, Ben Stokes 20 and wicketkeeper Ben Fox could only score 06 runs. However, Ollie Pope scored 73 in the first innings.

After this, 6 batsmen could not touch the double figure in the second innings. Jack Crawley 13, Ollie Pope 05, Joe Root 06, Jonny Bairstow 18, captain Ben Stokes 20 and wicketkeeper Ben Fox returned to the pavilion for zero. At the same time, Stuart Broad and opener Alex Lees played an innings of 35-35 runs.

Earlier in the first innings for South Africa, captain Dean Elgar scored 47, Serel Ervi scored 73, Marco Yansen scored 48 and Keshav Maharaj scored 48. In the end, Enrique Nortje also scored an important unbeaten 28. In this way South Africa scored 326 runs in the first innings. On the other hand, England’s team could only score 165 runs in the first innings and 149 runs in the second innings. In this way the visiting team won the first Test by an innings and 12 runs.
