Google CEO Sundar Pichai: Describing India as a major export economy, Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Monday said Google is developing an Internet search model for more than 100 Indian languages and women-led startups here. Will give help of $ 75 million to the companies.
Google focusing on startups in India
Pichai, who arrived on India tour, while addressing the ‘Google for India’ program organized here, said that Google is focusing on startups doing business from India. He said that of the $300 million earmarked for these new companies, one-fourth of the amount would be invested in women-led startups. On the first day of his visit, he met President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, besides attending an event with Telecom and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
Google will support small business in India
However, Google did not say what issue was discussed in these meetings of Sundar Pichai. But Pichai himself had said in a blog written at the start of his visit that he would discuss issues such as supporting India’s small businesses and startups and Google’s investment in cyber security with the prime minister. Apart from this, Google’s initiative in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in areas such as education and skill training and agriculture and health care will also be discussed.

Addressing the ‘Google for India’ event, Pichai said that technology is working on a large scale and is impacting the lives of people across the world. At such a time, there is a demand to make responsible and balanced rules. He said, “Given the scale and technology that it (India) will have, it is important to make sure that you have safeguards for the people, strike a balance. You are creating an innovation framework so that companies can innovate within the certainty of a legal framework. India will also be a big export economy. It will benefit from an open and connected internet and it will be important to strike the right balance.

Along with this, he said that Google is also supporting a new, multi-disciplinary center for Responsive AI in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
