Sunil Gavaskar On Rohit Sharma: In the eight-over match between India and Australia played at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Friday, captain Rohit Sharma mesmerized the audience by hitting four fours and four sixes in his unbeaten innings of 46 runs in 20 balls with a strike rate of 230. Also the team won the second match. In Friday’s match, Rohit took the innings forward with speed and surpassed New Zealand opener Martin Guptill to become the cricketer to hit the most sixes in men’s T20 cricket.
India’s great batsman Sunil Gavaskar was completely impressed by Rohit’s innings and he led his way with the bat chasing the target of 91 runs. He told that the right-handed batsman played with attitude and selected his shot.
Gavaskar was quoted by Star Sports after the match as saying, “What you saw with Rohit today (Friday’s match) was a measured approach. It was not something he was looking to defend. He helped the team win. Great effort for it.”
Also, Gavaskar had asked Rohit to take care of some things to avoid getting out early. “Where he gets into trouble, he plays off-side. Also he hits the ball in the air, that’s the only thing I told him to focus on,” he said.
With India winning Friday’s match, the three-match series is now tied 1-1, with Sunday’s match in Hyderabad being the final match of the series.
