The Al-Ahli-Baptist hospital blast on 17 October 2023 has cost the lives of many civilians in the Gaza area. With no gas, food, and medicines the hospital was already on the brink of collapse. The officials and government in Gaza and Israel blame each other for this blast undermining the seriousness of the destruction.
The situation is getting out of control in the Israel-Palestine region amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. No one other than the common people women, children or men are bearing the cost of the war.
The hospital was crowded by the victims and their surviving family members from the ongoing Israeli air strikes. These people were taking refuge in the hospital in search of a safe place to rest but were unaware of the upcoming destruction that would take away the lives of most of them. The number of dead is increasing with the current data speaking of 300 to 500 killed and numerous seriously injured.
The videos post Al-Ahli-Baptist hospital blast that came up on the internet showed the dead bodies all over the floor like a live graveyard all around. The videos showed the sirens and fireballs falling over and around the hospital turning the hospital in rubble.
Heartbreaking images of newborn, infants lying dead near the lifeless bodies of young adults are coming up. The injured were rushed to other hospitals for treatment which are already over flooded with patients and their families. The shortage of medical equipment, beds, medicines, food, and water is making treatment and survival more difficult.
The blame game between Israel and Hamas for Al-Ahli-Baptist Hospital Blast
Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry blamed an Israel for air strike on the hospital that killed at least 500 civilians. On the other side, the Israeli government soon denied involvement and blamed Hamas for misfiring the rocket. Later, an Israeli military spokesperson told journalists that there was no structural damage to any buildings around the Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital. The spokesperson strictly accused Hamas of causing the casualties from the explosion.
The Israeli spokesperson added that around 450 rockets fired from Gaza had fallen short and landed inside the area in the past 11 days of the war. The Israeli military also released a recording they said was between two Hamas militants discussing the blast, during which the speakers say it was believed to be an Islamic Jihad misfire and completely denied any missile from their side.
Islamic Jihadist ‘Hamas nullified Israel’s claims, pointing out that Israel is trying hard to get off responsibility for the brutal crime it has committed. The group said that Israel had ordered the evacuation of the Al-Ahli-Baptist hospital and presented different reports of a previous blast at the hospital as proof that the hospital was an Israeli target.
Conclusion
The Israel-Hamas war pointed towards the failure of the international world to prevent any further damage to the civilians and bring both parties to a ceasefire. Israel and Hamas are both equally responsible for the war as the civilians on both sides are the ones bearing the cost of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. The fight for land has turned into a war for lives. The Al-Ahli-Baptist hospital blast is against the international law of war.
