The highly anticipated next installment of the Venom franchise, starring Tom Hardy, has recently received an official title along with a revised release date.
The third installment of the Tom Hardy-led Venom franchise has been officially titled “Venom 3: The Last Dance,” accompanied by a significant change in its release schedule. Originally set to premiere on November 8, 2024, Sony Pictures has decided to move up the release date by nearly two weeks, now slated for October 25.
Venom 3: The Last Dance” Release Date Shifted
Behind the camera, Kelly Marcel not only serves as the director but also penned the script, collaborating with Hardy on the screenplay. The production team includes Hardy, Marcel, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker, all serving as producers.
Tom Hardy returns to reprise his role as the iconic Marvel adversary, Venom, first introduced in Ruben Fleischer’s 2018 film. Andy Serkis, who directed the 2021 sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” hands over the directorial reins to Marcel for this installment.
Notably, Marcel makes her directorial debut after having previously worked on the screenplay for two films within the franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to release the film in October aligns with the franchise’s successful track record during the pre-Halloween season. Both previous Venom films saw success during this period, with the first installment grossing over $850 million globally and the sequel surpassing the $500 million mark worldwide.
Tom Hardy took to Instagram in November to announce the commencement of production on the film after a hiatus due to last year’s actor strike. Describing the project as the “last dance,” Hardy expressed gratitude for the supportive team and the quality material they’re working with.
“Venom 3: The Last Dance” marks the latest addition to the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. It follows the recent release of “Madame Web,” starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, which, despite featuring notable talent, has struggled to meet expectations since its theatrical debut last month.
