Bayer Leverkusen on Being Unbeaten and Ending Bayern Munich’s 11- Year Dominance
Nobody expected Bayer Leverkusen to be the favorite to win the title from the start of the season. But from the first day, the team showed extreme determination and motivation to win the title and break several records along the way like being the first Bundesliga team to remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga history.
It was a grand day for German football as the Black and Reds became the only team to win the Bundesliga title along with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund who won the title in 2012 under the current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Bavarians dominated the league for a total of 11 years in which they stayed top in this league as compared to the other league divisions in Europe.
Bayern Munich plans to bounce back and win the league title next season but Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he will stay in Bayer Leverkusen for another season which increases the chance of being the perfect title competitor to the Bavarians.
After the win, the Bayer Leverkusen fans even renamed the ‘Bismarck Street‘ to ‘Xabi Alonso Street‘ in honor of the club manager Xabi Alonso.
Along with this title win, the Black and Reds are eyeing for a treble victory as they remain in both Uefa Europa League and DFB Pokal.
Player of The Match
The player of the match was none other than the 20-year-old German midfielder Florian Wirtz who made his presence onto the pitch and scored his first-ever senior hat trick of his career in such a crucial match for the Black and Reds.
The hat trick not only secured them the title but also one of his efforts became the highlight of the match as he tried to make an effort to score from a 25-yard but it went over Weder Bremen’s German goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.
