During a recent event, Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada praised the Canadian justice system and said that ‘the rule of a country with a strong and self sufficient independent system’by comforting the Sikh Canadians living in Canada that victimisation or abuse will be not allowed.
He reacted after the arrest of the three Indian people involved in the killing of the Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau stated that ‘As the RCMP (police) stated, the investigation remains ongoing, as does a separate and distinct investigation not limited to the involvement of the three people arrested yesterday.’
India Rubs Off Justin Trudeau’s Criticism
S. Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister for India rejected the concerns for the new development and information surrounding the supposed assassination of the Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and said that it is the internal politics of Canada. India already designated Khalistan as a designated terrorist group to which Nijjar belongs as their leader.
S. Jaishankar replied to Trudeau’s criticism for India and said that the criticism comes from the depth of the Internal Canadian politics. He stated to the media that ‘India’s image globally is now actually much much higher than it had been ever… Canada is an exception. You see the different country heads are praising Bharat and its Prime Minister.’
India rejected the criticisms of Justin Trudeau as ‘stupid’ and ‘influenced.’
3 Indians Arrested for the Murder of Nijjar
Three Indians were involved in the murder of the Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and they were living in Edmonton which is the capital city of the Canadian province of Alberta. The three Indians were identified as Kamal Preet Singh(22), Karan Brar(22), and Karanpreet Singh(28) who had been charged with first-degree murder and the plot to commit a murder.
After their arrest on Friday, the law enforcement authorities of Canada said that they were working and conspiring with their US counterparts who were recently arrested for the assassination plot of another Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. However, no other information was shared with the public but the authorities gave a hint that more people would be further arrested.
David Teboul, the Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police(RCMP) hesitated to comment on the possible connections between the arrested Indian trio and the Indian authorities but he confirmed that they are investigating to find any relevant connections or clues related to the Indian government.
India Concerned Over the Khalistani Influence In Canada
In the meantime, S Jaishankar also focused on concerns over a faction of the Canadian government supporting the Khalistanis and their leaders who are using the country’s political systems to push their goals and become a ‘vote bank’ for Canada. He also said that some political parties in Canada are dependent on the backing or support of the Khalistani leaders due to the lack of legislative power.
Jaishankar also blamed the Canadian government for giving visas to the Khalistani leaders and their supporters who are not only causing problems for India but also for them and breaking the relationship between India and Canada.
India also requested transportation for 25 people who were Pro-Khalistani people but the Canadian government did not pay any heed to their request.
Tensions Between India and Canada
The relationship between India and Canada went bad after Justin Trudeau’s potential claims on the Indian agents working for the Indian government and killing the Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was assassinated right outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Whereas, India dismissed the rumors and criticisms of Trudeau as ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated‘.
The Indian authority said that the Canadian authorities do not have any proof that the Indian government or their spy agencies were involved in the assassination of Nijjar. They also gave a good and valid reason that Canada needs to blame India for their upcoming elections so they can get a good vote bank.
