Yesterday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) once again proved why they are at the top of the table by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8 wickets with 38 balls to spare. The Men in Purple put on a dominating show as the team reached the IPL Final again after 2021, which they lost to the Chennai Super Kings. On the other Shah Rukh Khan interrupted the post match live show during the lap around the stadium after the match.
It was not just the KKR bowlers who dominated the first innings with their bowling performance but also the batsmen Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer who chased down the target of 160 within 13.4 overs by making a 97-run partnership them.
KKR’s Dominant Form In Batting and Bowling Continues
As usual, the toss went in favor of the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad, who opted to bat first. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been a dominant force in the batting order, especially during the powerplay overs, but this time it didn’t work against the two-time IPL Champions. SRH got off to a horrific start as the IPL’s highest-priced player, Mitchell Starc, showed his true colors after he picked up three wickets in a quick session with the wicket of Travis Head, who scored his first duck in this IPL.
The former KKR player Rahul Tripathi managed to slow down the wickets after he scored 55 runs out of 35 balls and also scored a partnership of 62 runs with the South African Heinrich Klaasen, but it was the night for the Purple Army, who picked out 5 wickets in the next 30 balls out of 25 runs. As the SRH innings almost ended at 128 runs, their skipper Pat Cummins picked up the innings and scored a quick 30 runs out of 24 balls, bringing their innings to an end at 159.
In the chase, KKR opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine got off to a great start by scoring 44 runs until both got out in the first seven overs. But the KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer showed their nerves of steel as the two-time champion chased down the target of 160 with ease in just 13.4 overs. Venkatesh Iyer played a crucial knock of 51 runs out of 28 balls, whereas Shreyas played a knock of 58 runs with 24 balls.
Shah Rukh Khan interrupts the post-match show and apologizes
After the match, Bollywood actor and KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan, along with his daughter Suhana and son AbRam, went on a lap around the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. During the reaction, SRK accidentally interrupted the post-match live show of Jio Cinema’s Hindi broadcast, which was shot live on the ground after the match.
Shah Rukh Khan warmly greeted Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel and Aakash Chopra and said sorry because he couldn’t see them earlier. How can you not love him 🥹💜 #ShahRukhKhan #SureshRaina #ParthivPatel #AakashChopra #KKRvsSRH #Kolkota #KKR pic.twitter.com/ByYsn9WiZ5

The live show involved three former Indian cricketers, Parthiv Patel, Akash Chopra, and Suresh Raina, who were apologized by Shah Rukh Khan for interrupting them, hugged them affectionately, and also apologized to the fans before resuming the lap around the venue.
Aakash Chopra appreciated the attitude of the KKR owner and stated that ‘Oh, what a man! Legend! He did not even realise that he walked into the show. He was very apologetic, but I said, ‘You made our day. You are the showstopper.’ Aakash Chopra, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) between 2008 and 2009, said that he (Shah Rukh Khan) was very supportive then and today. The netizens even applauded the attitude of the Bollywood actor, and some even said that he is known as King Khan for a reason.
KKR will now have to wait and see who wins in Qualifier 2 to face them in the final at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on May 26. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, will have to wait and see who wins in the eliminator round to play Qualifier 2 in the same stadium.
