The West Bengal CID made a massive breakout in the gruesome murder investigation of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar in Kolkata. The MP was strangled and murdered in his flat, with his body being chopped into pieces in a flat in the New Town area of Kolkata on May 13.
The police authorities recently arrested Jihad Hawaldar, who is an illegal immigrant from the Khulna area of Bangladesh. He resides in Mumbai, where he works as a butcher and played a significant role in the murder of the Bangladesh MP.
West Bengal CID on the murder of the Bangladesh MP
According to some sources reported by CID, the accused, Jihad Hawaldar, has finally confessed that he murdered the Bangladeshi MP and subsequently dismembered and chopped his body pieces in his New Town flat area in Kolkata. However, the case investigation revealed startling insights into the meticulous planning and execution of the crime. The authorities pressured Hawaldar to share the details of the mastermind behind the case, and it was Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen whose origins are from Bangladesh.
Hawaldar said that, under the orders of Akhtaruzzaman, he, along with four other Bangladeshi nationals, suffocated and killed Anwarul Azim Anar in his New Town flat.
How the Murder was Committed?
The CID authorities investigated the murder scene and found some stains of blood and also retrieved many plastic bags that were possibly used for dumping the body pieces. However, the results of the research were nothing short of terrifying, as participant Hawaldar described the situation, including how the murder was committed and how the group decided to skin the body after extracting all the flesh and chopping the body into pieces so the authorities could not identify the body.
The pieces and the other parts were transported in plastic bags and dumped and disposed of in different areas of Kolkata using different modes of transport.
Why the Bangladesh MP Came to India?
Anwarul Azim Anar was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bangladesh government and was from Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League Party. He mysteriously disappeared on May 18 after he went to India for some medication and was discovered dead in his Newtown flat on Wednesday. The police recovered the CCTV footage, which showed Anwarul Azim Anar entering his duplex flats near Aquatica in Newtown on May 13 with three other individuals.
But the CCTV footage also showed that on May 14, the two individuals who entered the apartment with the MP were seen leaving the area with some plastic bags in their hands, and another one was later seen with a luggage trolley. A senior official of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata said that Anwarul Azim Anar came to Kolkata for some medical treatment. Asaduzzaman Khan, the Home Minister of Bangladesh also stated that ‘three persons had been arrested in Bangladesh for the murder of Anwarul Azim Anar, 56, in Kolkata.’
Khan further stated that ‘Azim was murdered in a planned manner in a house in Kolkata. Police forces of both India and Bangladesh are working simultaneously to unearth the motive behind the murder and who the culprits are.’ He also ended the statement that they are the rules required in an international protocol to complete this operation.
The complaint for missing was first lodged by his friend, who reported and said that Anar came to Kolkata and was staying at his place, but he went out on May 13 to meet someone but didn’t return. A source reported that some messages were sent from his phone saying that he went to New Delhi and was with the VIPs.
