Israel is prepared to strike Iran ‘clearly and forcefully’ after being attacked on their home soil by Iranian drones and missiles on Saturday.
Israel is also preparing to launch and start the attack with warplanes or jet fighters.
On Monday, Lt. Gen Herzi Halevi the military chief of Israel stated that ‘Iran’s actions will be met with a response.’
The decision was followed up by two war cabinet meetings where leaders of Israel discussed how they would plan to retaliate or respond to Saturday’s attack.
Although no information is given on this decision, a report stated that Israel’s airforce US-made jet fighters like F-16, F-15, and F-35 jets are being prepared for the counter-strike.
Iran’s missile and drone attack on Israel
On Saturday midnight, Iran launched over 300 weapons to Israel, the weapons include 185 drones, 110 ballistic missiles and 36 cruise missiles.
The majority of the missiles were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome Air Defense System with major help from the UK, the US, and their neighboring country Jordan.
The attack was termed as a tactical failure as it failed to reach the ground and cause some civilian casaulties.
Air raid sirens went out in Israel as the civilians were told to seek shelter and they could hear the explosions when the air defense systems were activated. The night sky was lit up like fire after the missiles were intercepted by the Israelis and their allies’ defense systems before even they could reach the territory.
There was even a case when a Iranian ballistic missile was being shot down outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
There were several countries like Yemen, Syria, and Iran’s longtime rival Iraq were involved in the attack along with Iran. The Defense Department of the US stated that US forces intercepted dozens of missiles and drones launched from Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
While the Iran supported Hezbollah group in Lebanon also stated that they fired two missiles from an Israel occupied army base at Golan heights, a plateau which was taken by Israel from Syria.
Israel’s Arrow missile system intercepted and dealt with many of the ballistic missiles sent by Iran.
Iran stated that the Damascus Embassy attack was the main reason behind this attack.
Many Western countries like UK, US, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, and Norway criticised the attack while Egypt and Saudi Arabia demanded restraint.
Israeli Officials on the Counter-Strike Attack
A report stated that the counter-strike attack by Israel will be meant as a message that ‘Israel will not allow an attack of that magnitude against it to pass without a reaction.’
However, Israeli officials believe that the counter-strike attack will not create and spark a big war between both countries.
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden and his allies stated that Israel to maintain caution as Biden stated to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that ‘the US will not back a counter-attack.’
Preparations of the Counter-Strike Attack
The Israeli officials previously stated after the Iranian attack that their dispute with Iran is far from over yet, the country even vowed for revenge after 300 missiles and drones were targeted at their home soil by Tehran.
Benny Gantz, a Israeli minister stated that ‘We will build a regional coalition against the threat of Iran, and we will exact a price from it in the way and at the time that suits us.’
On the other hand, Iran already warned Israel that if they launch any sort of retaliation strike against them, they will launch a fatal strike that will shock the entire nation. Iran also warned the US that if they supported the retaliation strike they would target the US military units in Jordan, Syria, and Iraq.
