On Thursday, Liverpool thrashed The Blades by 3-1 to reclaim the top position in the English Premier League as goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Cody Gakpo secured the win for the Reds to earn a top position in the English Premier League by 70 points.
Liverpool secured 70 points out of their 30 games in which they are two points ahead of the Gunners who won against agaisnt Luton Town by 2-0 and three points ahead of the reigning three times champion Manchester City who also won against Aston Villa by 4-0.
Liverpool’s Big Comeback Against Sheffield United
The German tactician’s Jurgen Klopp’s side started well when the Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez opened the scoring for the Reds in the 17th minute when he closed down the Croatian goalkeeper Ivo Grbic messy clearance to open the scoring in a strange fashion.
But Liverpool and the Anfield fans were waiting for a joy ride as The Blades worked hard in the second half to stay in the game and scored an equalizer when the Brazilian Gustavo Hamer’s block post header deflected in off the Northern Irish player Connor Bradley to make it 1-1 in the 58th minute.

The visitors were playing too well to earn a shocking point against the Reds in their home ground Anfield. But the Argentine playmaker and midfielder Alexis Mac Allister canceled the joy for The Blades as he smashed into the top right corner with his brilliant right foot.
However, the Dutchman Cody Gakpo made sure for the Reds to stay in the title race and travel to the top of the Premier League with a brilliant header in the 90th minute to send the perfect gift towards to their departing manager Klopp as he will leave the club at the end of its season.
Liverpool’s In Depth Quality
As the title race for the English Premier League(EPL) goes on, Liverpool‘s in-depth strength will give some sort of motivation and inspiration to the German tactician Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool’s first-half performance was not so good but Klopp’s judgment and quality of young talents in the bench which included different types of attacking players like Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo, and Harvey Elliot. Klopp’s brilliant piece of mind by bringing in Cody Gakpo into the field produced imminent results and a brilliant performance from the young 24-year-old Dutchman.
Sheffield United was intended to be the lamps that were going to be sacrificed and killed by the Reds but instead, they gave a mesmerizing performance that scared the Reds and the fans for a little bit.
But all thanks goes to the Argentine playmaker Alexis Mac Allister whose performance was a sort of magical moment in the entire match which gave some relief for both the fans and the players.
The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp praised the 25-year-old Argentinian playmaker and stated ‘We needed Macca’s wonder goal to turn it around. The impact he can have is massive.’
In the entire match, Liverpool dominated with 83 percent possession and 29 shots to the opponent’s goal but they never looked secure after The Blades grew increasingly confident and equaled the scoring in the 58th minute by an own goal by Connor Bradley.
With his lose, Sheffield United are in the 20th position of the Premire League and are going to be relegated to play English Football League Championships next season.
Player of the Match
It was not the first time the 25-year-old Argentine Alexis Mac Allister was announced as the Player of the Match for the second consecutive time after scoring a crucial goal for the Reds with a thunderous strike with his right foot in the top corner of the visitor’s goal.
The Argentine also helped the Reds in their previous match against his former club Brighton where he provided a crucial assist to the Egyptian Messi Mohammad Salah who scored the winner as Liverpool FC defeated Brighton and Hove Albion FC by 2-1 in Anfield.
He nearly got the opportunity to score his second goal by freekick but it went off the woodwork.
With this, Alexis Mac Allister became the first Liverpool player to score or assist in six consecutive games after the Liverpool and England football legend Steven Gerrard who did it for the Reds in 2013.
