On Sunday while addressing media in Male, Maldives Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon admitted that their soldiers doesn’t have any licence to fly the aircrafts donated by the Indian military after 76 Indian troops left the island because of the insistence of President Muizzu.
Reportedly, the Maldivian soldiers were being trained to fly aircraft but the training had different phases and tests so all of them were neither qualified nor have hadcompleted the tests due to unspecified reasons.
Before the compilation of the training to fly the 3 aircrafts donated by India, the Indian troops left which is responsible for the lack of trained pilots.
Ghassan remarks were made in a recent press conference held at the President’s office.

About Indian Troops’ Withdrawal
President Mohamed Muizzu insisted on the withdrawal of all military operating the 3 aviation platforms in the Island nation by May 10th, 2024.
Although Ghassan remarked that when the current administration officials were in the oppn party, they claimed that there were many capable pilots in the MNDF. The former President Mohammed Nasheed and Abdulla Yameen were responsible for the arrival of the Indian soldiers and their donated 3 aircrafts to train the Maldivian soldiers.
Hopefully, the Maldives government doesn’t have any intention to remove their doctors serving in India after the shortfall of trained pilots.
