With nearly 40,000 fans in attendance, many of whom had paid over 1,000 Hong Kong dollars ($125) to watch the 36-year-old superstar play, the crowd expressed their frustration by chanting “Refund!” and signaling thumbs-down gestures while booing Messi and the team’s co-owner David Beckham after the match.
