Hollywood actress Olivia Munn is doing everything she can for herself and her family after she revealed her diagnosis with cancer in March.
During an interview on Mother’s Day, ‘The Newsroom‘ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ actor revealed the secret fact that she had a hysterectomy during her struggle and battle with breast cancer. Munn also revealed in the interview that she underwent an operation last month where she removed her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.

During the interview, the 43-year old American actress explained that she underwent a lot of pain during her breast cancer battle, and she has been prescribed the Lupron medication, which lowers the estrogen level in the body. She said that during the medication, she would feel dizzy and completely exhausted, as it was a side effect of the drug. She also recalls the fact that the side was so powerful that she would immediately go back to bed after getting up in the morning.
After taking an intense medication, she decided to undergo an operation for a hysterectomy as she stated ‘It was a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family,” Munn said, noting that she wanted to ensure she didn’t miss any of her son Malcolm’s childhood.’
Munn also revealed the fact that she froze her eggs for the third time after receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer in April last year. She and her boyfriend, John Mulaney, wanted children, and they welcomed their first baby, ‘Malcolm‘, in 2021, before her diagnosis of breast cancer two years later.

She said that her comedian boyfriend, John Mulaney, was very understanding and thoughtful during her breast cancer diagnosis. She said that after the diagnosis, she tried to look for one more round of egg retrievals as she was hoping for a favorable month. She and her husband talked a lot about raising a family, as they were not done with only one, but she didn’t know whether she had to do chemotherapy for this operation.
After finding out that they had two health issues, Olivia Munn and her boyfriend Mulaney started to cry, as she didn’t know that she had options if she fought cancer and could also have more children if she and her boyfriend wanted.
Fight with Aggressive Breast Cancer
The 43-year-old actress first revealed the news to her fans on her official Instagram page in March last year. She shared the fact that she underwent four surgeries in the last 10 months. She was informed that she was diagnosed in both of her breasts with Luminal B cancer, which is a fast-moving cancer.
Munn’s diagnosis came after her gynecologist ordered an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) since her breast cancer risk evaluation score showed and indicated that she had a 37 percent chance of living. After hearing this, she eventually underwent a double mastectomy.
Keeping the Pain With herself and her Family
Olivia Munn said in the interview that she remembers that during this stage she kept most of her pain within herself and wanted to spend more time with her friends and family if she did not live. She also said that she became nostalgic during her stay at the hospital during the diagnosis stage and wanted to return home and take her son ‘Malcolm’ with her to the park. So, she kept a frame of her with her boyfriend Mulaney and her baby beside her bed in the hospital.
She ended her statement at the interview and stated that ‘You realize cancer doesn’t care who you are; it doesn’t care if you have a baby or if you don’t have time. It comes at you, and you have no choice but to face it head-on.’
