Despite being the kid of the legendary actor Pankaj Kapur, Shahid Kapoor recently addressed the perks of an actor’s kid in the film industry. In a recent interview on No Filter Neha, Shahid Kapoor stated that only a superstar can hold his huge stardom and powers while a character lacks the necessity to stay in the industry. The clip became popular after it was posted on Reddit.
Shahid Kapoor on Being Pankaj Kapoor’s Son and His Personal Life
Shahid Kapoor further stated in his interview that he decided to start his career from nothing despite being the son of the legendary actor who is known for his iconic performances like Inspector PK in Raakh(1988), Dr. Dipankar Roy in Ek Doctor Ki Maut(1991) and Abbaji in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Indian Version of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Maqbool(2004).
Shahid Kapoor disclosed a fact by stating that ‘Everybody says this is Pankaj Kapoor ka beta hai and all that, but you know character actors don’t have any power only stars. Only superstars in big film, directors and producers have power. If you start struggling in a BMW and then after the start you buy another BMW then what’s the fun of it?’ When you start with Shiamak Davar( Shahid’s personal choreographer), you have to be in the last line.
So, forget being behind a star – you are also behind your contemporaries. You have to earn your right to be in the first row, to be more central as opposed to in the corner and so it’s a lot of work and I just I love that.’
Shahid Kapoor also opened up on his personal life about how his parent’s divorce made an impact on him. He stated that Because his parents were separated, there was this whole pride thing that he don’t wanna say anything to anybody, so he never told anybody. He told his dad that he signed movie after he signed it. He didn’t even know.
Shahid Kapoor Reflects on Being an Outsider
Shahid Kapoor reflected the fact that why an outsider doesn’t get the opportunities in the Bollywood film industry and he was also the shared the fact that he was an outsider when he first entered the Bollywood industry.
He even stated that ‘Even from the time he started to now, what is what is like the biggest difference. There are a lot of people who are from the fraternity and few very from the outside. He also came from outside actually, because he came from Delhi to Bombay with his mom and then he struggled. He didn’t have any source.
Talent is not being given an opportunity as much as it should and he should be proud of himself that he is here because of the work that he did, and because of the Actor that he learned to become, and whatever it is, he gave it to the craft.’
Shahid Kapoor is preparing for his upcoming thriller movie ‘Deva’ which is directed by Rosshan Andrrews and is set to release on 11th October.
