In a bid to stake its position ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has unveiled a bold manifesto promising significant reforms and welfare measures. The manifesto, titled ‘Didir Shopoth’ (Didi’s promises), outlines a comprehensive agenda, including the abolition of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the discontinuation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), among other key initiatives.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the TMC has long been vocal in its opposition to the CAA and NRC, viewing them as divisive and discriminatory policies. The manifesto reaffirms the party’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of all citizens and ensuring inclusive governance.
One of the flagship proposals of the manifesto is the assurance of 100 days of guaranteed work and an increased minimum wage, aimed at providing economic security to millions of workers across the country. Additionally, the TMC promises to prioritize housing for the underprivileged, offering a ray of hope to those grappling with homelessness and inadequate living conditions.

Recognizing the importance of access to clean cooking fuel, the manifesto pledges to provide 10 free LPG cylinders annually to families below the poverty line (BPL). This initiative not only addresses energy poverty but also underscores the party’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, the manifesto underscores the TMC’s focus on education and skill development. It promises apprenticeships for graduates and diploma holders up to the age of 25, along with student credit cards to facilitate higher education. These measures aim to empower the youth and enhance their employability in an increasingly competitive job market.
In a move to stabilize essential commodity prices and mitigate inflationary pressures, the manifesto proposes the creation of a price stabilization fund. This initiative reflects the party’s pragmatic approach to economic governance and its commitment to ensuring affordability for all sections of society.
The release of the manifesto in six languages underscores the TMC’s inclusive approach and its determination to reach out to diverse communities across the country. By articulating a vision centered on social justice and equitable development, the TMC seeks to galvanize support and emerge as a formidable force in the political landscape.
As the election campaign gathers momentum, the TMC’s manifesto sets the stage for a spirited debate on crucial issues facing the nation. With its emphasis on progressive reforms and welfare measures, the TMC aims to resonate with voters and emerge as a credible alternative, challenging the status quo and offering a vision of hope and transformation.
