Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has been implicated as one of the key suspects.
Maduro has also accused the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). On Monday, January 22, he called for the prosecution of those accused on grounds of terrorism, conspiracy and treason and entrusted Padrino with the dismissal of suspect military personnel from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

Venezuela Presidential Elections
After Maduro was elected for a second term in 2018, multiple countries, including the US, issued sanctions. International Relations eventually improved following the country’s willingness to conduct “free and fair” elections in 2024 by allowing International supervisors to closely monitor the electoral process.
Opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado has been eliminated from the 2024 presidential race on allegations of corruption. She won an opposition primary in October in spite of being banned.
On Tuesday, January 24, Machado reported about the abduction of two political campaigners and has accused the government of suppressing the opposition through unfair and violent means.
Maduro is yet to disclose the candidate from his party for the 2024 elections.
