Their pursuit of 191 runs was expertly achieved as they reached the target with just one ball to spare, finishing at 191/3 in 19.5 overs. The standout performer of the match was the MI skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur, whose unbeaten knock of 95 runs off 48 balls propelled her team to victory. Kaur’s innings was marked by her aggressive batting, comprising 10 fours and five sixes, narrowly missing out on a century.
However, amidst the intense run-chase, the match encountered a peculiar moment during the 18th over. The venue’s sprinkler system unexpectedly activated, causing water to spout from one of the sprinklers onto the field. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly managed as a super-sopper was deployed to dry up the affected area, allowing the match to resume promptly.

Prior to Mumbai Indians’ successful chase in WPL 2024, Gujarat Giants had posted a competitive total of 190/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The foundation of their innings was laid by Dayalan Hemalatha, who scored 74 runs, and Beth Mooney, who contributed 66 runs, both notching up well-deserved half-centuries. Saika Ishaque emerged as the key bowler for MI, claiming a crucial two-wicket haul.
Following this victory, Mumbai Indians became the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs of WPL 2024, demonstrating their dominance in the tournament. Speaking after being awarded the Player of the Match, Harmanpreet Kaur expressed the significance of the win, emphasizing the team’s focus on securing the top spot in the standings.
