WPL: DC Bowler Arundhati Fined for Breaching Code of Conduct

Delhi Capitals’ pace bowler Arundhati Reddy has been fined 10 percent of her match fees for breaching the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Code of Conduct during the match against UP Warriorz on Monday, February 26th, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The incident occurred during the match against UP Warriorz held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite the disciplinary issue, the 26-year-old managed to secure a wicket during Delhi Capital’s comprehensive nine-wicket victory over the Warriorz on Monday night.

Arundhati Reddy Fined for WPL Code of Conduct Violation

“A statement from the Women’s Premier League (WPL) announced that Arundhati Reddy of Delhi Capitals has been fined 10 percent of her match fees for violating the WPL Code of Conduct during her team’s recent encounter against UP Warriorz at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.”

Arundhati admitted to committing a Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the WPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to the use of language, actions, or gestures that could disparage or incite an aggressive response from a batter upon their dismissal during a match.

“The decision of the Match Referee regarding Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct is deemed final and binding,” the statement added, providing no further details.

Arundhati claimed the wicket of lower-order batter Poonam Khemnar in a match where Radha Yadav delivered remarkable figures of 4/20, restricting the Warriorz to a total of 119/9.

Delhi Capitals achieved the winning score with the loss of only one wicket in 14.4 overs. Opener Meg Lanning contributed 51 runs, while Shafali Verma remained unbeaten with an impressive 64 runs, both securing half-centuries in the process.
