Preliminary Investigation about the journalists death
According to preliminary investigations conducted by the CPJ as of December 9, at least 63 journalists and media professionals were among the more than 18,000 people murdered since the conflict began on October 7—more than 17,000 Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and 1,200 in Israel.
The first day of the war for reporter deaths was October 7, with six media personnel slain; the second-deadliest day was November 18, with five reporters killed.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told Reuters and Agence France Press news agencies on October 27 that it could not guarantee the safety of their journalists working in Gaza after they sought assurances that their reporters would not be targeted by Israeli strikes.
Journalists in Gaza face special dangers as they attempt to cover the battle during Israel’s ground assault, which includes catastrophic Israeli airstrikes, hampered communications, supply shortages, and widespread power outages.
Following the reports of December 9th, 2023, about 63 journalists and media workers have been confirmed dead, including 56 Palestinians, four Israelis, and three Lebanese. This included eleven reporters who were reported to have been hurt. Three reporters have gone missing, according to reports. According to reports, 19 reporters were detained.
Way forward
