Netflix recently released a teaser for the upcoming episode, featuring Kapil Sharma having a blast with the Grammy winner, Ed Sheeran. From belting out a desi song about Indian cuisine to sharing anecdotes about meeting Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan at his residence, Mannat, the episode seems to guarantee a joyous journey.
The Great Indian Kapil Show Episode 8, featuring Ed Sheeran, will premiere on 18th May, Netflix at 8 pm.

Following the recent appearance of Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, and Aditi Rao Hydari among other cast members of Heeramandi, comedian Kapil Sharma is ready to charm audiences once again with the eighth episode of Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show. This time, international singer Ek Sheeran will grace the stage as the guest, and the promos have already ignited excitement among fans.
What is exciting about the promo?
In the promo, the ‘Shape of You’ singer said: “I originally wanted to be an actor. I auditioned for this tv show it was acting with music and I made it to the finals. I was sixteen, and I got down to the final 10 people. In my head, I thought if I got this, I would pursue acting and wouldn’t do music. If I don’t get this, I’ll focus solely on music. And I didn’t get it.”
The cast includes Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Archana Puran Singh, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur.
Kapil also shared how he initially wanted to become a singer. “Actually, I wanted to become a singer. When I came out of my home, I saw everyone singing. So I swapped my field,” he said.
Miscommunication rise to its peak as the eighth episode of the comedy chat show will see Ed attempting to speak in Hindi and Kapil sweating it out with his English.
The video ends with Kapil saying, “He has specially come to meet me”. To which Ed replies in Hindi, “nahi nahi… mere show hai Mumbai me”. The post is captioned as: “The perfect collaboration doesn’t exis…”
Will the episode change Kapil’s fate?
The Great Indian Kapil Show debuted on March 30, 2024, with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the first guests. Following that, many well-known people appeared on the show, including Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra, Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Kaushal, the Heeramandi cast, and many more.
In the show’s debut week, the show debuted clinching the third place with approximately 2.5 million views but experienced a significant drop thereafter. By the fourth week of its release, it plummeted to a mere 3.9 million views, marking the second-lowest viewership during its tenure on Netflix.
Now, soon, the episode with Ed Sheeran is going to air and this episode is expected to change the fate of the show and increase the views as the audience from the west will also be interested in watching him on an Indian show.
Kapil had teased Ed’s appearance on the show in March. At the time, he shared a photo with Ed and wrote, “We always love your songs ed sheeran but after meeting you we love you more you are a sweetheart Can’t wait to show the World the humorous side of yours lots of love n best wishes always my friend.” At the time, Kapil also attended a party hosted in the honour of Ed.
Ed Sheeran was in India to perform for the final leg of his Tour at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on March 16. The concert also saw Diljit Dosanjh joining him for his performance.
