Indian Para-athletes gave record-breaking performance in the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. India crossed the milestone of 100 medals and finished the game with 111 medals – 29 gold, 31 silver, and 51 bronze.
The Para-athletes are giving their best performance with every passing year increasing number of medals. India gave its 1st best performance by winning best performance by winning 72 medals in the Asian Para Games 2018.

He applauded them and said their performance will be an inspiration to the entire youth of the nation. He said that nothing is impossible. The PM also expressed immense pride and appreciation to their coaches, family, and support systems.

Deepa Malik, the president of the Para Olympics Committee of India, has greeted the Para-athletes’ victoried performance in the games and assured them that we’ll bring more medals home in the Paris Paralympics in 2024.
Dilip Mahadu Gavit was the one who secured a gold medal in the Men’s 400m T47 event, bringing the total medal tally to 100 by completing the race in a record-breaking 49.48 seconds. This achievement marked India’s most successful Para Asian Games campaign to date, marking Asian Para Games 2023 in history.
In the medal tally of the Asian Para games 2023, India with 111 medals is in the fifth position, and China is on the top with 521 medals.
Indian Para-athletes competed in 17 out of 22 sports events, which include their first-time participation in rowing, canoeing, lawn ball, taekwondo, and blind football. About 4,000 Para-athletes participated in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games 2023 from a total of 43 countries.
These Asian Para Games were earlier scheduled for 9-25 October 2022 but with COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed and later happened from 22-28 October 2023. These games brought many sports fraternities together to play in the times of conflict between Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine.

In the first Asian Para Games 2010, India secured 15th position with 14 medals, and at present, in the Asian Para Games 2023, India is 5th in the medals tally table. Indian Para-athletes have brought their country to a long victory stage.
