GTA 6 profoundly known as Grand Theft Auto 6 is probably the most played and loved game across the globe. Produced by Rockstar Games, its predecessor was launched back in September, 2013.
After more than a decade and loads of rumours GTA 6 could be rolling out as soon as possible this week or the coming week followed by a trailer.
The fans are constantly scouring the internet for clues to what Rockstar has in store for the blockbuster franchise. Grand Theft Auto releases are momentous, almost always becoming landmark moments in culture, and the announcement of one is no different.
The source of this rumour is Chris Marx, a self-proclaimed insider who goes by the online handle MarxxChris. He claims to have confirmed the GTA 6 announcement date.
More about Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games was founded in New York in 1998 as a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. It’s known for game series such as Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, and Max Payne. Its game GTA V has sold over 100 million copies and is one of the best selling video games of all time.
Founding members of the company were Terry Donovan, Gary Foreman, Dan and Sam Houser, and Jamie King, who worked for Take-Two at the time, and of which the Houser brothers were previously executives at Bad Monkey Gaming (BMG) Interactive.
Since 1999, several companies acquired by or established under Take-Two have become part of Rockstar Games, such as Rockstar Canada (later renamed Rockstar Toronto) becoming the first one in 1999, and Rockstar Dundee the most recent in 2020.
All companies organised under Rockstar Games bear the “Rockstar” credentials. Rockstar Games is sometimes also referred to as Rockstar New York, Rockstar NY or Rockstar NYC. Rockstar Games also has a motion capture studio in Bethpage, New York.
Rockstar’s last new game was 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2, but more recently, it has been dipping into its back catalog for re-releases, namely Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which brings together GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas in one package.
A great deal of Rockstar’s focus is on Grand Theft Auto Online, which has developed into a vast and diverse playground for different types of gaming experiences. It has a very active player base and, as such, is a solid source of revenue for Rockstar and Take-Two.
What to expect in the GTA 6 version?
Die-heart GTA fans do have a lot of information on some of the basics of the game, thanks to some leaks. Previous year’s September, the internet covered a massive dump of an in-development build of GTA 6 that gave us plenty of juicy information.
The biggest of which is that, for the first time ever, GTA will feature a playable female protagonist named Lucia. Furthermore, GTA 6 will introduce the series’ first female protagonist, a Latina character.
While specific story details remain undisclosed, it is likely that the game will follow the classic GTA theme of characters navigating the criminal underworld and taking advantage of or challenging society.
On top of that, it seems that the series may be making a return to the Miami-inspired Vice City and that buildings will be enterable, with the game placing an even bigger focus on heists and robberies.
As the game’s narrative and setting often reflect contemporary themes, it’s no surprise that cryptocurrency could play a role in GTA 6. Leaks indicate that players may receive bitcoin as a reward for completing missions, and the stock market feature will return, including a broker for various cryptocurrencies.
This incorporation aligns with the GTA series’ tradition of addressing significant aspects of modern life, especially as cryptocurrency has become a prominent feature of the financial landscape.
