The highest wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup, Mohammed Shami, is awarded the Arjuna Award. President Droupadi Murmu presented the national sports awards to India’s top athletes on January 9 at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Mohammad Shami received the Arjuna Award, 2023 in recognition of his accomplishments in cricket. What he has accomplished is:
● Runner-up (Men’s Team) in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India.
● Runner-up (Men’s Team) at the 2023 ICC World Test Championship, which took place in London, UK.
● India’s top wicket-taker at the World Cup of ICC Cricket.
Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, shuttlers, were given the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award for their outstanding 2023, which included winning the Indonesia Open Super 1000 title, the Asian Championships title, and their first-ever gold medal at the Asian Games—a first for badminton for India. Among the athletes to be honoured was cricketer Mohammed Shami, who was awarded the Arjuna Award for his outstanding achievement in the game.
