Madhavi Raje Scindia, mother of Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, passed away at 76 in Delhi and was brought to Gwalior for her cremation. Her body was transported from Gwalior airport to the Rani Mahal in the Jai Vilas Palace complex in an ambulance adorned with flowers.
The cremation took place on Thursday at ‘Amma Maharaj Ki Chhatri’, a royal family site, at 5 pm. Many gathered at the airport to pay their respects. Madhavi Raje, who was married to the late Madhavrao Scindia, hailed from Nepal’s royal family. Juddha Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana was a patrilineal descendant of Sardar Ramakrishna Kunwar of Gorkha. BJP state president VD Sharma extended his condolences to the Union Minister via X (formerly Twitter). “I was saddened to learn that honorable Rajmata of Gwalior, Madhavi Raje Scindia, is no more. May she find eternal peace in her heavenly abode. I pray God her family and loved ones the strength to bear with her loss,” Sharma posted.
