Mr Biden and Donald Trump agreed to have a debate on the 27th of June and the 10th of September.
The announcement of the unexpected debate came just after Biden kept his terms for facing his predecessor in a live forum ahead of the 2024 election.
There will be 2 debates, one will be next month and one will be almost a month before the election.
As soon as the rivals announced to have a debate, the leading news channels gave them an invitation for the same.
The debate on 27th June will be organized by CNN – for which both Trump and Biden agreed.
The second debate will be organized by ABC on 10th September reportedly almost a month before the election.
Trump on his social media handle stated that, he has also accepted an invitation by Fox new on 2 October, and his campaign stated, “We believe there should be more than just two opportunities for the American people to hear more from the candidates themselves,”.
However, the chairwoman of Biden’s campaign denied the 3rd debate and shared that the President had made it clear beforehand to have only 2 one-on-one debates before the November elections.
The debate was insisted on by Biden on his social media handle which was shortly accepted by his rival, before suggesting they debate every month stating: “Just tell me when. Let’s get ready to rumble!!!
Soon after that, Biden posted “I’ve received and accepted an invitation from CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”
The social media fight didn’t end here as Mr Biden said Mr Trump was “free on Wednesdays” – a reference to his criminal trial in New York, while Mr Trump claimed his rival was the “worst debater” who “can’t put two sentences together “.
According to CNN, the debate would take place on the 27th of June at Atlana studios and the other debate which will be held on the 10th of September by ABC keeps the details unspecified. To which Biden again stated – “I’ve also received and accepted an invitation to a debate hosted by ABC on Tuesday, September 10th. Trump says he’ll arrange his transportation. I’ll bring my plane, too. I plan on keeping it for another four years.”
CNN said there would be no audience but only 2 moderators ‘Jake Tapper ‘ and ‘Dana Bash’ whereas ABC said that its presenters, David Muir and Linsey Davis would moderate the second debate.
Why will the debate break traditions?
CNN announced there would be no audience present to witness or put their questions for debate “to ensure candidate make maximise of the time allowed in debate.”
Candidates have to take turns answering questions from an agreed-upon moderator.
During the time, one answers the question while the Rival’s microphone would get deactivated.
Reportedly, the debate would last for 2 hours starting from 9 p.m. and the candidates are required to stand for that period.
Why didn’t Kennedy qualify for the upcoming debate?
According to CNN rules, the participants must appear on enough ballots to gain the minimum 270 electoral votes, and must receive at least 15% support in 4 separate recognized polls – which makes it difficult for RKF to qualify for the debate.
RKF is now trying hard to get access to the presidential debates by stating that Biden and Trump want to exclude him from the debate to avoid their 8 years of mutual failure
Shortly after the announcement of this major debate battle, Robert Kennedy posted on X that 70% of Americans oppose the probable rematch between Trump and Biden .
He proceeded to claim that both the leaders are “afraid” to debate him in order to avoid their failure. And said that they are “colluding” to make him out of the elections by not including him in the Debate.
