Vikrant Massey on Wednesday apologized for an old tweet he shared, which featured a cartoon depicting Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. The actor, currently enjoying the success of his latest film “12th Fail,” expressed regret for his 2018 post, clarifying that he never intended to offend any community or hurt people’s sentiments.
Massey faced criticism after sharing the tweet, which included an editorial cartoon depicting Sita commenting on Ram Bakhts. Following the backlash, Massey deleted the post and issued an apology through a statement. He has since removed the tweet from his account.
Vikrant Massey Issues Midnight Apology and Reflects on Past Mistake
Amidst mounting controversy, Vikrant Massey addressed the situation by posting a late-night apology on his social media platform. The actor openly acknowledged the regrettable nature of his 2018 tweet and expressed sincere remorse for inadvertently causing offense to religious sentiments.
Massey underscored that his actions were never meant to disparage any community and extended his apologies to those who felt hurt by his words.
“In reference to one of my tweets from 2018, I would like to address a few words: It was never my intention to hurt, insult, or disrespect the Hindu community. However, upon reflection, I acknowledge the distasteful nature of the tweet made in jest. The same sentiment could have been expressed without including the cartoon from a newspaper,” Vikrant Massey wrote.

’12th Fail,’ directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is a biographical drama that chronicles the journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from poverty to become an IPS officer. Starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in leading roles, the film is now available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
Following the success of ’12th Fail,’ Vikrant Massey has been cast in the upcoming film ‘The Sabarmati Report.’
Produced by Ektaa Kapoor, the movie also stars Raashii Khanna and Riddi Dogra in pivotal roles. Based on the tragic real-life event of the 2002 Sabarmati Express fire in Gujarat, which shook the nation, the film is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
