Following the rescheduling of the U-15 and U-20 national wrestling championship, the ad-hoc committee has revised the dates for the selection trials to determine India’s representatives for the Olympic Qualifiers and Asian Championship. Originally slated for February 27-29, the trials will now take place on March 10 and 11.
The committee, managing the sport in lieu of the suspended Wrestling Federation of India, announced that trials for women wrestlers will be held at NSNIS Patiala, while Greco-Roman and freestyle trials will occur at SAI Sonipat. The postponement was attributed to delays in organizing the 2023 Senior National Championships.
Selection Criteria for Wrestling
Winners in Olympic weight categories will advance to the Olympic qualifiers (Asian Qualifiers: April 19-21, World Qualifiers: May 9-12), while those in non-Olympic categories will compete in the Asian Championships (April 11-16). Additionally, runners-up in Olympic weight categories at the trials will represent India at the Asian Championships.
